I also live in CT and go to Wallingford Goodwill and Hamden Goodwill and SA.
I've said this on another site and I think its worth repeating,

Thrift stores fail to understand that Ebay only works because the people that are bidding on an item want to win! They feel that they must "beat" that other bidder that is halfway around the world. Ebay prices will NOT work in any other context.
Even Buy it Now prices on Ebay don't work as well as the auctions. The Goodwill cannot successfully sell an item at a price that it sold for on Ebay.

I'm sure I've seen you around, especially on half price days. I'm glad I saw your post.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290906174214104771.post-29136916326849318842010-03-28T21:34:51.933-07:002010-03-28T21:34:51.933-07:00ERR, I agree with you all! I went to the counter and told the lady at the counter it was over priced I'd give her $20.00 for it. This is what she said...

"I checked Ebay and these are going for much higher than $39.00."

Well, I searched ebay when I got home and a DEALER'S (Buy it Now Price) for an OPERATIONAL PLAYER was $50.00!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? Totally out of control.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290906174214104771.post-61180477741829096862010-01-18T13:44:13.386-08:002010-01-18T13:44:13.386-08:00I just recently found out that here in California ...I just recently found out that here in California all the Goodwill stores have a 50% off sale on all items (except new merchandise) on most holidays. They've taken out the fun with high prices, too I think there are a lot more people out there looking for treasures and they are depleting the selection. I say we go thirifting as much as possible and not give up. Perhaps have a chat with your GW manager about prices. In one of my Vintage Monday posts I display a cute little red porcelain sleigh and reindeer which I just found at Goodwill for $.99 cents. A reader let me know who the manufacturer and date of the piece was.....which was fun. It sits in front of a Christmas Album (1965) that matches my decor of the family room and makes a pretty little grouping also for $.99 cents. I am a regular first name basis customer of Goodwill and when you go as much as I do, you will find something. When I do see an item that I want....that costs too much...... I have to remind myself that the money they raise goes to support and help so many others that are less fortunate.Sherriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01222704976945620047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290906174214104771.post-48410353260329980442009-12-16T05:27:11.383-08:002009-12-16T05:27:11.383-08:00...and I thought it was just me...Maybe the Salvat......and I thought it was just me...Maybe the Salvation Army is available. :)Michelle @ Sweet Something Designhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14238174034736406372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290906174214104771.post-83919319321669411602009-12-16T04:18:48.411-08:002009-12-16T04:18:48.411-08:00Not just the Goodwill but they have all lost their...Not just the Goodwill but they have all lost their minds and now think they are running an antique shop!
xo, suzyGeorgia Peachezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08388420038047460892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290906174214104771.post-55115285495017317692009-12-15T21:06:51.849-08:002009-12-15T21:06:51.849-08:00Love your letter to GW.
