You may recall that last year’s hunt for vintage Christmas turned up little finds like these,
this,
and these.
And silly me, I assumed this year’s finds might be more of the same.
Imagine my surprise when 'they' turned out to be this.
He's six feet tall and made from printed paper applied to plywood pieces -- I was told he once was a holiday street decoration in Los Angeles. Found at a local yard sale.
Oh I am so sorry, I left him there while I took a bathroom break...I will be right by o pick him up. Ha! Amazing........Something I have never seen and would covet with my every being then run to church for forgivness...good for you...smiles...Renee
You have completely inspired me...next weekend I will be up early and out the door to find the great and amazing...you can't be everywhere at the same time...lol! You have found the best stuff!
I'm always thrilled when I see your name pop up on the Blogger Update thingy!! Yay!! Amy has a post. AND WOWSER!! WHAT a POST!! This is waaay cool. Love, love, love him. Awesome. And - did you notice? Santa's hand is in such a way that you could display signs! How about this one: I WILL NOT BE JOINING THE DONNER PARTY FOR DINNER. See! Think of the fun!
A few years ago I redid this fellow, a sleigh and two reindeer for our village. They were donated to the village after being found in a barn. It took me months but they turned out awesome and I am thrilled to see them used every year to decorate our village park!
Hi! Just found this SAME EXACT Santa a couple weeks ago at one of my favorite antique stores here in Spokane WA! Was sooooo excited...he's missing a boot so my husband is going to fix that for me! He looked wonderful next to one of my Christmas trees!
I have the same one too, bought it a few years ago at an antique emporium. I did see a whole set with reindeer and sleigh on someone's roof, I wonder where they came from, maybe Sears? anyone have more info on this.. Linda
We just inherited this guy from my grandfather who was a christmas tree farmer for several years in oregon. We have the sled and 4 reindeer also (though the reindeer are missing some front legs) I was so excited to find a similar one online! Ours is peeling a bit and we have covered it with a clear varnish to protect it but he may need to be redone eventually. I would love to know where he originally came from!
Wow! You found Christmas in a BIG way!!! How fun is that!?!
