Proving once again there isn’t much I won’t buy when it only costs a dollar

Doesn’t she look like someone just loved her to death?

Literally.

It appears she received some emergency medical treatment along the way.

And a makeover.

From Morticia Addams.

A very nice gal at the rummage sale where I purchased this poor soul asked me “What will you do
with the antique dolly?”

Cue up spooky music.

I think Dolly will be hard at work on Halloween.

  2. Oh poor baby! Didn't anyone ever tell her that her foundation should match her skin tone? I guess the less said the better as you walked away with her...I think I'd have a big secret smile on my face! I'm with you...you can't go wrong for $1. Looking forward to seeing her Halloween makeover:-)

  8. Checking watch: 10:19 p.m. here, 7:19 p.m. West Coast. When I wake up shrieking at 3 a.m. because I'm being stalked by a doll with haunting eyes, on the West Coast it will be ... kind of late to call you to complain, it seems. Utterly terrifying. Especially that last shot.

  9. ROFL!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, my gosh. I am screaming. No. Really. I AM SCREAMING!! This is hideous. PUT IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaughhhhhhhhhh...

(deep breath...le sigh) Truly. This was hysterical.

    Loved it.

    I'm gonna read it again!

  16. Oh my goodness!! That last photo has me totally freaked out. I'm going to have bad dreams now. She is wonderfully creepy... but I would lock her up at night. Really, I would.

  17. Oh my, I wouldn't want to find her left alone on my doorstep at night.

  18. I love your photos of her! She looks like a dark haired version of a doll my mom has. I guess when you were the one that loved them, they don't look as creepy.

  19. There's an awful lot of character exuding from this 'dollie'
I do hope you don't take that away from her.

    I ♥ her.

  21. Yes - a bit spooky but I like that you rescued her. There's something about abandoned dolls that tugs at my heartstrings!

  23. That's what's known in our family as a Kreepy Babee. Just put it in a surprising location and freak Mr. Into Vintage out!

  24. And also...I woulda bought that for 5 whole dollars!

  25. So creepy! She looks 30s ... it might be worth researching her, as sometimes the raggedy creepy ones turn out to be real collector's items. Oh, and sometimes they turn out to be cursed and possessed, hahaha!

  26. She will scare ALL the trick-or-treaters!!!

  27. Amy, I have a book you have to read. It's called The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo (she wrote Because of Winn Dixie). It's all about a china rabbit and the power of love to transform you. It's a children's novel, but it is soooo good. Your dolly made me think of this. I read it to my third graders every spring and sometimes I even cry when I read it to them. They love it! Really.....check it out from the library.

  28. She looked so sweet in all of the pictures up until that last one, where she looks positively evil!

  29. All orphans need someone to bring them home.
I can't wait to see her in her Halloween finery.

  30. Sort of like Big Baby in Toy Story 3--they could be a couple! Nice that you saved her and she'll truly be the star at Halloween.

  31. That last shot will give me nightmares.

  32. Ack, thanks for bringing back to mind my childhood nightmares...my dolls coming alive at night to get me! lol. I had to turn them to the wall cuz I could feel their eyes! I like dolls now, but only sweet faced with painted eyes, not realistic ones.

  34. I was just thinking the same thing when I first saw this poor little thing. Bride of Chucky came to mind first, then psych ward guinea pig came next, followed by zombie doll. You got yourself a Halloween winner there!

  35. Love the baby! I absolutely would have bought her for a buck!
Last picture? Artsy and perfect and a bit disturbing. I say lock her in the Doily Factory at night just to be on the safe side.

  36. I love her. She's very cute. Or strange. I'm with Teresa, I would lock her away at night just in case.
