A little hodge mixed in with some podge

For some reason, I want to say mod podge even though I mean hodge podge.

It’s possible I have a mild case of Craft Brain.

This little vintage camera was purchased while on a recent non-junking trip.  (and yet, the junk still found me)

That’s right, I do my souvenir shopping at Salvation Army thrift stores.

And I needed a cheap suitcase. Somehow the things I brought along on the trip multiplied or expanded or exploded but in any case, another suitcase was required for the return trip.

It was good practice for Texas.

There’s some mini-purging going on around here.

When a drawer hasn’t been opened in so long that I don’t know what’s in it, it’s time.

A recent shot of my mall space at Monticello.

Do you see the ‘swan’ decoys? I found those on my junk trip to the Oregon Coast.

They remind me of what an odd assortment of stuff has taken a ride in the back of my car over the years.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve uttered the phrase ‘Doily Factory’ here but at long last the cobwebs have been removed, scissors sharpened and fabrics sorted and I do believe my sewing dry spell is over.

If you’re in the Portland, OR area this weekend, don’t forget to check out Plucky Maidens Junk Fest! I’ll be there shopping the junk on Sunday.

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

  1. Oh junk fest! I wish I lived much closer...that sounds wonderful!! :) Hope you have fun junking! Your booth looks lovely! :) Can't wait to see what you make :) xo Holly

  2. I'm so excited about the Doily Factory reopening! I'm picturing a big whistle blowing to let workers know their shift has started.

  3. Oh, I love those swans! And I understand how things expand when you travel! Enjoy your week!

  4. Glad to hear the doily factory is up and running again. Love that last photo..looks like springtime blooms.
    Yeehaw girl...we are getting close!

  5. I'm so excited that the Doily Factory is open once again!! I love all the neat pillows, tea towels, etc. that you are famous for creating!!

  6. And I used to think Saturday Market was fun! Oh to be in PDX again...moved away 32 years ago!

  7. Hope you find lots of neat junk at the show. Your booth is looking jammed packed full of nifty treasures.

  8. I have had to buy a duffle bag to send my clothes home in so my suitcase could hold treasures! Yes Junk seems to find me where ever I am also!
    hugs, Linda

  9. I'm telling you... you gotta pack one suitcase inside another one for that trip to Texas because it is going to find you!!

  10. Ah yes, the Doily Factory.....brings back memories.

When I first discovered your blog and witty ways, you had just moved to your current home and were showing off your newly-organized Doily Factory.

I wish you and your sewing machine many more happy years together.....Reunited and it feels so goooood....

  11. So great to see you post!! Wish you were going to Plucky on Sunday. I will miss seeing you as am going Sun. Anxious to see what comes out of the Doily Factory. Good luck getting all your treasures home from Texas :>)

  12. What a score of rhinestone beauties! Oh yes, good practice for the small stuff. Those baby doilies are so cute, what could you be doing with them?

  13. Hi! Thanks so much for leaving the comment on my blog about the vintage fabric on Ebay. It made me smile because I have a love hate relationship with Ebay. If I would have put that fabric on Etsy I would have probably listed in the $40 - 50 range (for 10 yards). I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly it has escalated on Ebay! Ya just never know!
Thanks for reading my blog. deb

  14. Stop talking about Texas, lady! You are KILLING me!! Hanna, Maddie & I are headed up to Plucky Maidens on Saturday. Can't wait! We are staying the night in Portland and hope to hit Monticello on Sunday for Mimosas. Sounds like a great combo!

  15. Such pretties and I love what you are working on!! Have a fun weekend! xo Heather

  16. Wow, that camera was a great find!! Love all of the little miniture doilies!!

  17. Oh you made my evening...I have long waited the arrival of a few of your sewn goods. My inspiration returns. Enjoy your weekend. Smiles..Renee

  18. You're making me want to buy a new sewing machine! Can't wait to see your "new" creations!!!

  19. PLEASE tell me that those swans aren't actual decoys, and that people DON'T hunt swans! Can't wait to see what kind of goodies you're cranking out at the doily factory!

I love this part! Thanks for your comment.
