Dare to be square.

I’m pulling together the parts & pieces for the set-up of my antique mall space happening later this week and thought I’d share my ‘decor board’ for the space.

That’s right. I’m going all Candice Olson in my 15 square feet.

These are the display elements of the space – the vintage fabrics will become mini curtain panels to add some texture & color, the chippy green boards are shelves that will go on a rusty metal bakers rack, the yellow slats belong to a crusty folding screen and the vintage square dancing wallpaper is just to make it all a little bit fun.

A question about the original use of square dance wallpaper: Which room? I have envisioned this in every room in the house and can’t quite figure it out.

The kitchen is my best guess. Or the ballroom, maybe, if you’re a very dedicated square dancing enthusiast.

And have a ballroom.

Focus.

In an effort to keep costs down (and profits up, please), everything pictured, except the wallpaper, is from my personal stash.

Looks like I’ve been stashing more than vintage fabric lately…

Set up is on Thursday. Woo-hoo!

P.S. I bought the wallpaper here.  I plan to 'hang' it on my mall walls with thumbtacks.

And it turns out Square Dance is the official dance of Oregon.

It really is.

  1. Official dance of Oregon? Please God, No.....

I'm sure your space will be just as creative and inspiring as your previous Camas one was. Can't wait to see it in person! Ooh, I'll be in that neighborhood Thursday. I think I need to check it out!

  2. I LOVE all the color in your vision! Looks like square dance is the official dance of many states (who knew they had official state dances?) I know your space will be wonderful and I send best wishes for Thursday. I'm hoping I can make it by there.

  4. LOVE all you've planned, and would love to see pictures of your finished booth!! Also hope to see in person when passing through from Nevada this summer to see the grandbabies.

I was wondering the same thing about the wallpaper,(which room?). I agree, in the kitchen would be fun!

Best of luck with your booth,
    Rise'

  5. Sometimes people have a tendency to reveal too much online, but this seems like an appropriate (and safe) place to say that my parents were prize-winning square dancers (sans cowboy hats and goofy skirts), and I don't think this wallpaper would have seen the light of day in our house. (I think my reply to your comment yesterday was eaten by my e-mail - it's a yes on 'worsh.')

  8. OMG! The house that my husband grew up in had a "rec room" in the basement. complete with a wood paneled bar and SQUARE DANCERS WALLPAPER! I can't remember if it was exactly like this, but I remember when I first went down to that room thinking how wierd the wallpaper was!

    HILARIOUS!
