The Doily Factory has been humming along lately with little stacks of these rolling off the assembly line.
Is it really an assembly line when there's only one person doing the assembling?
Sachets or fancy ravioli? You decide.
Making these lavender-filled sachets is perfect for my self-diagnosed short attention span because they pile up quickly which makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something.
I made these from a tattered and stained vintage dresser scarf with lots of 'good parts' left to use. I have to wonder what some of these old linens went through to end up looking the way they do.
I always admire the time and effort that went into the embroidery on these. Thank you, Anonymous Stitcher from the past. Your work is lovely. And enduring.
These were made from a dainty vintage tea towel and one lone napkin. Someone was so meticulous -- every little stitch is perfect.
These are from a pretty white-on-white vintage doily embroidered with grapes and leaves.
And now, a special request.
Please make this weather stop. I want to wear sandals.
Thank you.
So pretty and dainty. I love your little lavender pillows.
ReplyDeleteOK....it should stop anytime now......:) I would like the third set down please....perfect gift for someone I know! let me know how I pay, OK? That set isn't making it to Etsy! :) Sandy
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely sachets! And what a lovely blog!!! And yes, PLEASE; this weather must stop sooon! But it's the main reason things are so green here in Vancouver BC. Plus it really is a rainforest. Doesn't it rain in those kinds of forests?
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea.I seem to run out of ideas for how to use tablecloth, runner, napkin "bits" (i.e. the good parts).I do a lot of Xmas stockings with them.Love this idea and it will be perfect for the stash of lavendar I've had for an eternity.I have a stash of everything. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNEVER thought about repurposing the "Good Parts" left of tattered vintage linens in this way....they are GORGEOUS!!! Love your work!
ReplyDeleteIt's not an assembly line. It is a one man band complete with sousaphone, harmonica strapped to neck and cymbals between the knees! Girl, you are amazing!! These are GORGEOUS. Just gorgeous, I tell you. I hope the sun comes out. Just for you! ;o) Kathy
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute title and beautiful sachets!!
ReplyDeleteYour sachets are lovely. It's so wonderful that you are taking something old and making it new again. Hope the weather has improved and you are having a fabulous day. :) Tammy
ReplyDeleteYour sachets are so sweet! What a good idea.
ReplyDeleteAs for Mr. Sun...he is peeking out this AM at my house but I understand it won't be for long.
I'm rusting and irritable..how 'bout you?
Annette
Yes, sweet stitchers from the past and the PRESENT are the best! ♥
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! And I'm sure they smell oh so wonderful.

These are just so pretty. I wonder, too, what could have happened to some of these pretty linens. (Cleaning rags?) One of my favorite tablecloths had the perfect black imprint of a hot pot that scorched it irreparably, and all I could think was how sad that person must have been. (It became curtains.) I really hope your rain ends soon.
ReplyDeleteAmen to making the rain stop! I want to wear my sandals too! (I also live in the PNW)

Oooh, these are adorable! My lavender is just about to the picking stage, so your post can just in time. I'm curious how you cut your scallop squares/rectangles...do you have an AccuQuilt? I have a Big Shot...it will cut fabric, on a MUCH smaller scale than the AccuQuilt Super idea!
ReplyDeleteThese little sachets are so sweet. I have quite a few of yours in my collection. I stash them in my kitchen towel drawer. I stash them in my kitchen napkin drawer. I stash them in my unmentionables drawer. I stash them in my daughter's unmentionables drawer. I stash them in my make up drawer in the bathroom. I stash them in my stored linens. I stash them everywhere. (Kind of sounds like some sort of Dr. Seuss book.) I even gave some of your heart shaped ones to my nieces. My little Cutter Bee niece always takes it with her on trips and one time we thought we were driving through fields of lavendar - it just smelled so heavenly. Are you going to pop some of these on your Etsy?
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea to salvage that beautiful embroidery. You are so cleavor!
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs,
Pam
You sure do know what pretty is all about!!
ReplyDeleteoh my they are really lovely. What a great thing to make.
ReplyDeleteOh my I stumbled on to your site through "Sewn With Grace" and I bookmarked you immediatley. Such lovely sweet colors, fabric and embroidery. "Contented sigh" and like you said perfect for giving you a sense of accomplishment. I'm going to purchase something from your shop just because they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThose sachets are beautiful! Love the way you are saving all that beautiful embroidery. I always feel sorry for those poor unappreciated linens...
ReplyDelete"Sew" nice to have a place dedicated to where we create and you make such lovely creations...thanks so much for sharing it all with us.
ReplyDeleteI should teach myself to sew someday...such beautiful things one can make.
ReplyDeleteSo cool to find you have a blog, I have looked at your pillows in the past on etsy. Why don't you make some of those beautiful sachets to sell on etsy too?
