I thought I’d give you an update on how things are going with my tiny antique mall space at Monticello Antique Marketplace in Portland, OR.
I’ve been a dealer there for 4 months…
…in a space that measures 15 square feet.
I bet your bath mat might be bigger than my little space.
But I was determined.
I set and achieved my sales goal every month except the month I broke my foot.
And that was only because a medical professional told me to sit down. She said it nicely but it's hard to get anything done with your foot elevated above your heart.
So far, 235 items have sold.
And now I need even more.
I found out I’m going to be moving to a larger (50 s.f.!!) space at the beginning of August!
This might sound like crazy talk but could this be the end of The Garage Where Cars Can’t Park? (now affectionately referred to as The Garage Where People Have to Climb Over Rusty, Chippy Old Things to Get to the Trash Can)
I hope so. I’ll keep you posted.
Wait just a minute...you mean to tell me you found two of those tole hampers and you sold them? Those are beautiful. I love the single one I have and no the baby one I found doesn't count as a full one but I love it just the same. You certainly do need more space. Wish I could shop from there. Now don't go all crazy and try to get that stuff down by yourself or you will end up in shandal again...smiles...Renee
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the awesome sales!! Oh, how I wish I lived closer to come shop!! Love the metal letters, so many possibilities with those!! How exciting to be moving to a larger space. Best wishes to you, and I can't wait to see what you treasures you fill it with! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Amy. I knew it would happen. You have such a good eye and I figured things would go so well that you would have to expand. Can't wait to see the next space. See you at A Vintage Gathering!!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny. I think it's great that you are getting more space. This is something I've thought about trying, but there are no antique malls in our area. Most are many miles away. But it sure would be fun ;-)
ReplyDeleteWell deserved!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to tell you, "yes" that means no more accumulation in the garage but from years of experience that hasn't happened yet. More space more buying....but it's all good!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting a new space, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it.
Happy Shopping!
Debbie
You Astound Me.........I need your motivation, STAT! Sales goals? Teach me Obi Wan.......
ReplyDeleteBrava Sweets. You've earned it and you so deserve it.
YeAH YOU!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on meeting your goal, The worst month I had was the month I was getting ready to work my first show and I was not working my booth, sure make a difference. My space is 8 X 8, but I can get a lot in it, looks like you have done a great job of maximizing your space, good luck in your bigger booth

Ooooo, I'd like to look around your space! You've got some great pieces stashed in that little area!
ReplyDeleteYour post proves small but mighty is a great way to start a dream. Congrats on meeting your sales goal (and space goal) in a short period of time. Let us know how the whole garage thing turns out. My guess is you will still be crawling over rust! lol
ReplyDeleteCongrats Amy! Can't wait to see your new space!
ReplyDeleteMy eyes were hungrily looking at everything in your booth! Congrats! ♥
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! I'm sure you'll continue to do well in your new space!

ReplyDeleteWay to go Amy! That is so cool you have done so well in such a short time. I am so thrilled for you and your success. Hope to see you soon.
ReplyDeleteThe theme for "Movin' on Up" is now playing in my head. As I hope it will be in yours. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteYou broke your foot? Bummer.....this is wonderful! I am happy for you but I miss your posts and your Etsy store goodies......Your hubby will not know what to do with an almost empty garage....lol Sandy
Congratulations!! I have been wondering if it has turned out to be worth your while but I didn't want to be nosy. I get over there every 2-3 weeks and see your inventory changing so I've been hoping that meant sales. Looking forward to seeing the new bigger one! What area is it in?
ReplyDeleteYah' I am a toile hamper fan too! Lucky duck!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog..and all the vintage..wish I was closer I would pop in and visit your little space... congratulations on a bigger space.

I love them, congrats for the selling, i wish I had fleamrket store like you. Just found your blog via vintage search, following you now.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe what you did with your tiny space. I'm kinda in awe of it. Congrats on the larger booth space and to HOPEFULLY getting your garage space back! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been to your mall before. Congrats on expanding your business. You do pack a lot into that tiny space, but I know you will do amazing things with a larger booth.
ReplyDeletexo,
Danielle
Are you still under the impression that your garage will get cleared out some day? I've given up on that hope, but at least I can park my car in mine. Good luck on the larger space. Sounds like you are on a roll (except for that pesky foot issue).
ReplyDeleteWarning....the more space you have, the more stuff you will accumulate! You know, one must have extra stock "just in case" something sells. Your garage might thin out temporarily, but I predict that you will fill it up again!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW...congrats on meeting your sales goals!!!
Have fun in your new space!
Congrats! Love all your stuff, and wish I could visit! Esp your vintage hampers!
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! Congratulations! Though I'm sure you'll find a "clean" garage is more practical for reaching your vehicle, I'm thinking it'll be rather dull with no pretties to climb over and admire!

I'm not surprised that you need more space. Your booth is filled with great stuff! And although I'm very happy for you, please don't let me be the only one now with one of THOSE garages!
ReplyDeleteYou have some great looking things there. I wish I could shop in your booth! I'm not surprised you sold so many letters. My customers snap them up too!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, and that is why I got a storage unit. I am so happy to hear that you are stretching your wings! Good news! With your keen eye for funky, rusty and vintage, I am not surprised to hear that you have sold so much stuff. I found a mailbox over the weekend that could be a brother to yours.
ReplyDeleteHave fun, Miss Amy!!!
xxoo
I have a garage like that too and would love to clean it out. Looks like you're doing a marvelous job. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI love your vintage space. vintage is my passion too!
ReplyDeletecongrats on your new space
What a great looking space..it may be small but there are lots of goodies tucked in there! I dream about having a booth like yours but I am too chicken to try it. I am your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Angie
Um, hello? Just returned from Home Depot picking up some paint and grabbing a "Vintage Style" magazine in the checkout line. Sitting here flipping through it and I see they've mentioned your blog! You're famous! Page 7, under Style Mavens. You're gonna blog about this, right?! Congratulations:)
