Sometimes I still sew

From where I sit at my computer in the doily factory, I look straight into the lonely eye of the vintage fabric cabinet.

And those neglected, folded heaps of vintage fabric remind me that my sewing lately has been, um, not so much.

I’ll blame it on tax time, or as I like to call it, The Oppression of All Creative Urges.

Not to mention this dismal, cold & rainy ‘Spring’ weather in my neck of the woods.

Not inspiring. At all.

But this inspires me!

At last! The first pillow of Spring appears

Fabric flowers will have to do for now until it’s warm enough for the real deal.

And thank you for your helpful comments on my last post about selling at a vintage show – I appreciate it so much! I’ll have an update to share soon.

  2. I wish I knew how to sew! I love your fabrics and that pillow is sooooo purrty! I think I'm going to start collecting fabrics when I see some that I love...eventually I will make something out of them, even if it's just pillows and pillow cases, lol!

  3. I too have been neglecting my vintage fabric and sewing. Thanks for the inspiration, think I may go complete a pillow that just needs a little antique crocheted lace added to it! Tiff
Visit me at my blog sometimes...

  4. Gorgeous pillow! Is that barkcloth? I love love love the texture of old barkcloth. You have a yummy collection of fabrics. I do a lot of thinking about sewing but not much doing nowdays. Seems like the pace at my "out of necessity" job has shortned my attention span to where I mostly have to start and finish something in about a half hour or I lose interest. Just about the length of time it takes me to think it up - LOL!

  5. LOL! you are as bad as i am - i have been stressing about all my stash - and just keep buying more! my studio used to be so neat, but now all the cubbies, shelves, and closets are full and there are piles of grainsacks everywhere! it is a bit ridiculous! you would think there would be no more for sale tomorrow! so, i am taking on your resolution from last year....sewing through what i have got and turning some of it lose to make others happy!!

  15. My fabric stash is bursting too. I should have spent this snowy winter at the sewing machine but somehow the season passed me by.. Now the sun is out and even though it is still below freezing I am out walking instead of staying indoors. You have inspired me though and maybe I will get something finished as soon as I set in the sleeves of the jacket I remodeled for my daughter... I guess I have been at the machine just sewing things for my kids Remodleing for one daughter and making scrubs for my other daughter as she embarks on her new career. And mending work jeans for my husband. Oh my... Busier than I thought.

  16. Heavens to Betsy, is that a barkcloth quilt?!?! So pretty, just like the view from your computer. And that pillow. Yes, tax time can be daunting. We call it "Is summer vacation ON or OFF" time!

  18. This is why I can never make a decision and purchase at your shop...the next thing is just so gorgeous I cannot make up my mind. Your seams are perfect and color choices spot on. Its just too much to take. I hear you about the sewing. I like to mix things up and grow bored of things quickly. Smiles...and goodluck...Renee

  25. Hi there! Thanks for visiting my blog. My family owns Apple Valley Country store and they serve BBQ there on festival weekends. They just expanded and opened a restaurant in Parkdale and it opened yesterday! It did great, thankfully. It's located on the main drag (does Parkdale even have a main drag???) by the place that serves ice cream. Hope you stop in some time-- tell my brother Justin how you found him!
