Home at last.
The past two weeks on the road flew by for me. In addition to thrifting, antiquing & junking, I spent a lot of time visiting much-missed family, friends and their adorable offspring. I stayed in two hotels and five different homes. I slept in a guest room, an office and a cabana.
Ashland Springs Hotel in Ashland, OR
I ate a lot of ice cream. (Vacation = Validation)
The weather went from sunny and warm to rainy and cold. I wish I had a vintage tablecloth for every Californian who learned I was from Oregon and then asked me if I brought the weather with me.
Would you like some tires with your dirt bike?
I shopped in over thirty antique and thrift stores. I went to one terrific estate sale, one disappointing barn sale and one ‘indoor yard sale.’ Actually, I never made it inside the indoor yard sale – my internal personal safety barometer started sounding the alarm and I decided to skip it.
And along the way I met many others who are also into vintage.

I managed to return with a modest amount of treasures mixed with an abundance of experiences.
It’s good to be home.
I see some fun things...the little deer are precious! And I love Christmas linens! Looks like you had FUN! ♥ Love to hear more about your adventures! ♥
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a good time. I can't wait to see what you do with all that treasure. Blue birds, reindeer, spun head and tablecloths what more could you ask for? Alright don't get picky and go with the weather! Smiles from Kansas...Renee
ReplyDeletewow! i think i'm jealous of your days and days of vintage hunting. great picture collage, so bright and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteYAHHHHHH! I was wondering when and if you were ever coming home. Looks like you found some fun stuff and can't wait to hear all about it. Yah, Yah, Yah...Ms. Into Vintage is home!
ReplyDeleteOh, clap, clap, clap! You're home. All safe and sound. Glad you didn't go into the creepy inside yard sale of doom! You will be sharing pictures, of course. Right?! - Cheers, Kathy
ReplyDeleteWell, sounds like the road trip was a positive adventure. February around here tends to be pretty low key. It always tends to be a month of evaluation and ...hell I don't know what. But in the end I come out of it psyched up for spring and warm weather and yard sales!!
ReplyDeleteI got more irons in the fire than ever before so bring it on. uh...yup.
xo, suzy
Welcome Home Amy! We missed you.......can't wait hear all about your adventures, and see all your pirate booty!
ReplyDeleteCool stuff, but, there's no place like home!
ReplyDeleteThat little blue bird is so cute. I love to find those and tuck them in my potted planters outside. Love the Christmas stuff too. visit me at thecrankyqueen.blogspot.com Thanx for sharing. Tiff
ReplyDeleteSo, you're the reason it rained here! LOL I love your treasures, especially that little bluebird!!
ReplyDeleteWow, Amy, you had quite the adventure! You realy found some wonderful things and it must have been fun to see the relatives and friends!
ReplyDeleteBut it is always so great to get home......glad you made it safely.
Annette
So glad to hear about the adventure and see that you are back in one piece! I have been to a few sales where I thought twice before going in...for safety and health reasons. It has always been a fantasy of mine to cross the country going from sale to sale, but in the end, I did realize that there's no place like home.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had quite an adventure and came away with some great finds. I can totally relate to that internal personal safety barrometer and have had a couple interesting experiences myself that are way too long to relate here. What are those mugs? They look a little like Friendly Village but I have never seen ones with fireplaces which is what I think I'm seeing.
ReplyDeleteIt's especially good to be home with goodies!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Judging by those pictures, it looks like the trip was a success! I'm thinking maybe I need to make a road trip, and see some new treasures, instead of the same old thing. Can't wait to hear more about your trip!
ReplyDeleteI've been to a couple of sales where I felt a little unsafe, and afterwards I have to ask myself: Are you really that desperate? Sadly, I always answer myself: YES!
Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog. It is beautiful! Your pictures are fantastic!
Jenny
I was one of the five houses visited during Amy's trip - as her sister-n-law some may accuse me of being prejudice but it seems through your comments that you all appreciate her talent as much as I do..as I sit staring at my new beautiful pillows that were made for my vintage glider........they may make it outside.........maybe not...too pretty!
ReplyDeleteOMG! This trip sounds like a dream vacation of sorts. Well, except for the indoor yard sale bit and the weather. It sounds like a lot of fun and it looks like you found some wonderful treasures. A vintage treasure hunt road trip is going on my Bucket List. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're back. You know how I worry. Although I don't encourage ignoring those personal safety vibes, I sometimes pick up small, sharp objects that can be used as weapons. (Not that you should worry.)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - thanks for the all the hospitality at your bed-&-breakfast-like home. It was great to see you & Mr. Anonymous. I only wish I had thought to take a picture of the vintage glider you restored...guess I'd better come back! :-)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog and I love it! I just awarded you a Stylish Blogger Award, here's the link: http://somethingcreatedeveryday.blogspot.com/2011/03/stylish-blogger-award-wow.html
ReplyDeleteThe deer, trays & mugs are my fave! You have a very good eye ♥ This is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time. What great memories & treasures to have!
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to come home but if you have to be away, that is the kind of trip to take!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you made it home safe and sound!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you found some wonderful items!
Glad that you used your common sense to not go inside. It is important to listen to that inner voice, which is always spot on.
Hugs,
Becky
Welcome home, Amy! Glad you made it back to the doily factory safe and sound. I think a vintage treasure hunt road trip is about as fun as it can get....although some sunshine would have been welcome, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteLove your finds. Sounds like a great trip!

I can relate to those road trips. Looks like you have some goodies though. I love the part when you meet new friends along the way. It makes the fun all worth the trip. Glad your home in one piece!
