Vintage Christmas with a Pinch of Kitsch and Glitter

Ever the multi-tasker, I was fortunate to time a recent errand in Portland, OR with the opening day of Monticello Antique Mall’s Vintage Christmas Show.

Their Christmas show is always an amazing visual experience.

And I just enjoy spending time with others who are vintage-Christmas afflicted.

Except when they’re heading to the cash register carrying something I wish I had found before they did.

To the lady holding the vintage wood sap bucket with that beautifully-perfect aqua patina:
I’m mostly sorry I stalked you. I only did it to make sure you were really serious about buying it.
You were.

I moved on.

Lots of holiday inspiration, everywhere.

You can see the rest of the photos here.

By the way, did you see where this fellow turned up?

  2. Did I leave a comment? I was in the middle of it and then I think I clicked off of it. Oh well!

Well, I don't know how you parted with Mr. Claus, but he is living in a good place now. I think I just need to move to Portland now. Are they hiring teachers in Oregon??? LOL

  3. I was there today and it was amazing. I think I might have been walking around with my mouth hanging open - hehe! I could live there. And sit in that perfectly patina-ed red garden chair.

  5. Oh yes I did and you should have seen my comment! Laurie is just babysitting for me.....really he could not have gone to a better home. He is amazing. I must admit it is an affliction and I to share in your stalking when an unfortunate mishap of item taking occurs. Careful following and dedicated stare downs insure that the item is certain to go to the right home...clearly mine. Ha! Gorgeous show. I would be overwhelmed! Smiles..Renee

  9. OK...I'm inspired! I'll be looking for a red metal lawn chair like the one in the first picture so I can use it for Open House next year! Great photos! Sorry you didn't get the sap bucket...I hope you find another one soon!!!

  10. Love seeing the show thru your camera and not at my fast paced shopping speed. Sorry I missed you!

  11. I'm sure that at least one of those mannequins would be mine. What a treasure trove of vintage eye candy. I'd be loitering around someone with an aqua sap bucket too.

  12. Another reason (as if I needed another one) to come to Portland. Your photos are almost motivating me to get out of my chair and finish decorating. (Almost.) (It's not your photos, it's me.)

  15. Oh, I would have stalked the sap bucket lady and tripped her when she was walking to the cash register. Only kidding. Maybe. Awesome photos. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

  17. LOL! I have stalked people too waiting to see if they will lay down an object that I covet and walk off! It's hard to be discreet about it!

  19. Insanely jealous! It looks like a vintage Christmas dream.
Next year. I always say next year. Next year for Barn House, next year for Farm Chicks, next year for Monticello.
Oh well, I suppose the procrastination is good for my wallet if nothing else.
